Sofa courier service
Sofa delivery for one sofa on our covered UK routes
Bought a sofa that the seller will not deliver? OctoFetch collects one sofa from one address and delivers it to another on a scheduled UK route. Enter both postcodes to see your price and available collection & delivery dates. The standard service is driver-only: one driver collects and delivers your sofa, so suitable help with loading and unloading must be available where needed.
- Your quote from two postcodes — no callback, no survey
- One sofa is a normal booking, not an awkward exception
- Live collection dates you choose yourself
- Cover in transit for eligible items across mainland UK

What sofa delivery with OctoFetch includes
A sofa is too big for any parcel network and far too small to justify a removals firm for the day. We do the job in between: one sofa, collected from one door and delivered to another, priced up front on real road mileage rather than an hourly rate.
Your sofa travels alongside other deliveries heading the same way, which is what keeps a long-distance single-sofa move affordable. You get a booking reference, a confirmation and a link that shows the current status, so you are not chasing anyone for an update.
Being straight about the limits matters more than a longer list of promises. We are a driver-led courier service: we do not offer two-person delivery, white glove delivery, or sofa assembly and dismantling, and we cannot position a sofa anywhere that needs two operatives. Someone needs to be at the collection address to help the driver load, and someone at the delivery address to help receive it.
Optional extras — delivery into the home, delivery to a room of your choice, packaging disposal and protective packing — are shown as separate line items during the quote so you can see exactly what each one costs before you pay.
Who books a sofa courier
Almost everyone arrives here for the same reason: the sofa is bought, or about to be, and it will not move itself.
Collection-only marketplace buyers
You have won or agreed a sofa on Facebook Marketplace, eBay, Gumtree or Shpock, and the listing says collection only. Our marketplace delivery guide walks through arranging it with a seller you have never met.
Clearance, ex-display and charity shop buys
Showroom clearance, ex-display seating and charity shop finds are often priced on the basis that you take it away. We collect from shops and warehouses during their opening hours, so a bargain does not depend on owning a van.
People sending a sofa to someone else
Selling privately, passing a sofa to family, or moving one between two of your own addresses. The quote only needs a collection postcode and a delivery postcode, so it works in either direction.
Furniture sellers and small retailers
If you sell seating and want delivery available at the point of sale, you can list your business with us or browse the seller directory to see who already does.
Sofas and seating we transport
If it fits in a low-loader van, can be handled safely and is not on our restricted list, it is a normal booking. Pick the closest match to see a price.
Two and three seater sofas
Standard fabric and leather sofas, the most common single-item booking we carry on our routes.
Price a two or three seaterCorner sofas and chaise units
Corner groups and chaise sofas that already separate into sections before collection day.
Price a corner sofaSofa beds and recliners
Sofa beds, reclining sofas and electric recliners — heavier than they look, so weights matter.
Price a sofa bedArmchairs, tub chairs and footstools
Single seats and matching footstools, whether they travel alone or with a sofa.

Where sofa delivery has limits
We do not dismantle or reassemble sofas, so a corner group must already be separated into its sections and any bolt-on feet or arms removed before collection. We do not remove or dispose of an existing sofa, and we cannot take items on our restricted list. Very heavy single pieces may need a specific vehicle, so give accurate dimensions and weights at the quote stage. Full detail is in our acceptable use policy. For beds, wardrobes and tables, see furniture delivery; for gym kit and other oversized one-offs, see large item delivery.
Buying a collection-only sofa
Collection only is where most sofa deals fall apart. A few minutes of groundwork prevents a wasted journey.
Before you pay the seller
Ask for the sofa's length, depth and height, whether it separates into sections, and which floor it is on. Get a photo of the doorway it has to come through. Then quote the job — knowing the delivery cost before you commit is the whole point.
When you book the collection
Agree a two-hour window with the seller in writing and confirm somebody will be there to hand the sofa over and help load it. Share your booking reference so both of you are working from the same details.
If the seller changes plans
Dates can be moved and bookings cancelled under our cancellations policy. Request the change through your booking link as soon as you know, rather than on the day, so there is a record of it.
How sofa delivery prices are worked out
Three things move the number. Knowing them means you can influence what you pay.
Distance between the two addresses
Priced on real road mileage between the collection and delivery postcodes, not a straight line on a map. A cross-town sofa move and a Preston-to-London move are not the same job.
The size and weight of the sofa
How much van space the sofa takes and what is needed to handle it safely. Our quote form pre-fills typical dimensions and weights for common sofa types, and you can enter your own.
Access at both ends
Stairs, upper floors, long carries and parking restrictions all change the work involved. Declaring them during the quote is what keeps the price fixed on the day.
Quotes are calculated live, so the figure already reflects your route, your sofa and your access — there is no separate estimate stage and no invented flat rate. If a material detail changes before collection, tell us and we will re-quote rather than surprise you at the kerb.
Booking a sofa delivery, step by step
Four steps from postcode to doorstep, all online.
- 1
Enter both postcodes
Collection postcode, delivery postcode. Both are checked against live route coverage, so you see your price and available collection & delivery dates in seconds.
- 2
Describe the sofa
Pick the closest sofa type or enter your own dimensions and weight, then add any access details and optional extras you want.
- 3
Choose a date and pay
Available dates come from live route availability for your collection postcode. The price you see in the breakdown is the price you pay.
- 4
Collection and delivery
Someone hands the sofa over and helps load at collection; someone receives it at delivery. Your booking link shows the current status throughout.
No account needed to see a price
You can quote without registering. Once booked, every change — dates, extra details, questions — goes through your booking link so there is a written record. Lost it? Resend your booking link.
Preparing a sofa for collection
Sofas fail on access and on preparation, not on distance. Twenty minutes here saves a wasted collection.
- Measure the sofa and the route out of the building. Length, depth, height and diagonal — then doorway widths, the turn at the top of the stairs, the stairwell, and any low ceiling or tight landing. Do the same at the delivery address.
- Separate a corner sofa before the driver arrives. We do not dismantle or reassemble on site. Corner groups, bolt-on arms and screw-in feet should already be apart, with fixings bagged and taped to the frame.
- Strip and secure everything loose. Remove cushions, throws and covers, and secure reclining mechanisms and sofa-bed frames so they cannot open in transit. Loose parts move around on a shared route.
- Wrap the vulnerable surfaces. You do not have to wrap a sofa, but fabric and leather travel better with blankets or shrink wrap on the arms and corners. Prefer us to do it? Add protective packing during the quote — owner-packed items can affect what cover applies.
- Check parking at both ends. Permit zones, controlled parking and narrow streets decide how close the van gets, and therefore how far the sofa has to be carried.

Access, doorways and delivery into the home
The honest version of what happens at the door, so nothing on the day is a surprise.
If the sofa will not fit through the door
Then it cannot go in, and no courier can change that. Measure the narrowest point on the route before you book: doorway, stairwell turn, landing. If the numbers are close, plan for the sofa to be separated or reconsider the buy.
Delivery into the home and room of choice
Both are optional extras you add during the quote, carried out by one driver with your help. Anything genuinely needing two operatives — awkward stair carries, upper-floor manoeuvres, positioning heavy corner sections — is outside what we offer.
Flats, upper floors and lifts
We deliver to flats and upper floors, but declare the floor, the lift and the carry during the quote. Undeclared access is the most common reason a delivery cannot complete, and undeclared access can change your quote. Terms are in our terms.
Where we deliver sofas
Scheduled routes across mainland Britain, checked live against your two postcodes.
Mainland England, Wales and Scotland
Sofas move on scheduled routes between towns and cities across mainland Britain, including long-distance moves that would be uneconomic in a hired van. Coverage is confirmed against both postcodes at the quote stage rather than promised in advance.
Island and offshore addresses
Northern Ireland, the Scottish islands and other offshore addresses are handled case by case rather than as standard routes. Run the quote and you will see immediately whether a route can serve the job.
Sofa courier, man and van, removals firm or hiring a van yourself?
Four ways to move one sofa. This is the honest version of where each one fits.
| Option | Best for | Worth knowing |
|---|---|---|
| OctoFetch sofa courier | One sofa, couch or armchair between two addresses, including collection-only buys. | Fixed online price from two postcodes, live dates, cover in transit for eligible items. Driver-led: you help load and receive, and there is no assembly or dismantling. |
| Man and van | Short local moves where you can be present and flexible on timing. | Often priced by the hour and usually arranged by phone, so the final cost depends on how the day goes and cover varies by operator. |
| Removals company | A whole house or several rooms of furniture at once. | Priced around a vehicle and crew for the day, which is far more capacity than a single sofa needs. |
| Self-drive van hire | Short distances if you already have help and are confident loading a sofa. | Hire, fuel, insurance excess and your own day add up quickly, and a sofa needs a second pair of hands at both ends. |
What you can rely on
The things that decide whether handing over a sofa feels safe.
The price is fixed before you pay
Distance, sofa size and access are all priced during the quote and shown as a breakdown. Nothing is renegotiated at the kerb.
You pick the date
Available dates come from live route availability for your collection postcode, so the day you choose is a day we can genuinely do.
Cover in transit for eligible items
Eligible sofas carry cover while in transit with a defined claims process. Conditions apply — pre-existing damage, owner-packed or restricted items and inaccurate booking details can reduce or remove cover.
Everything is written down
A booking reference, a confirmation, and a link showing the current status of your booking, plus a route to request changes.
A real business you can contact
OctoFetch is a Preston-registered business with a phone number and an email address, not an anonymous booking form.
Part of The Unity Network
Routes are operated through a network of vetted independent couriers working to shared standards, which is what makes long-distance scheduled sofa delivery possible.
